Ramadan Giving FAQ
When should I pay my Zakat?
Many Muslims choose to pay Zakat during Ramadan for multiplied rewards. Pay on your personal Zakat anniversary date — one lunar year from when your wealth first exceeded the Nisab threshold.
What is the Zakat al-Fitr amount?
Approximately $15 per person in your household. It must be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer to be valid.
What is the difference between Fidya and Kaffarah?
Fidya ($15/day) is for those who permanently cannot fast due to illness or old age. Kaffarah ($900) is the penalty for deliberately breaking a fast without valid reason.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Global Hope Giving is a registered charity. You will receive an instant digital tax receipt for every donation.
When is Laylatul Qadr?
The Night of Power falls on one of the odd nights of the last 10 days of Ramadan (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th). Charity given on this night equals over 83 years of giving.
