Our Zakat Commitment

Global Hope Giving treats your Zakat as an Amanah — a sacred trust. We are committed to ensuring that every Zakat dollar is distributed according to Islamic jurisprudence, reaching the eligible recipients as defined in the Quran.

Zakat-Eligible Programs

Zakat funds are directed exclusively to programs that serve the eight categories of Zakat recipients outlined in Surah At-Tawbah (9:60). Our Zakat-eligible programs include Emergency Response, OrphanKind, Feed Our World, Education First, and Women’s Empowerment.

Scholarly Oversight

Our Zakat distribution is overseen by qualified Islamic scholars who review our programs regularly to ensure compliance with Shariah principles. This includes verifying that recipients meet the eligibility criteria and that funds are distributed in the appropriate categories.

Zakat and Administrative Costs

In accordance with Islamic jurisprudence, a portion of Zakat funds may be allocated to the “Amil Zakah” category — those who administer and distribute Zakat. This is one of the eight categories explicitly mentioned in the Quran, and it ensures the efficient and professional delivery of your Zakat to those in need.

Transparency

We publish annual Zakat distribution reports detailing how funds were allocated across the eligible categories and the geographic regions served. These reports are available upon request.

Zakat al-Fitr

During Ramadan, we also facilitate Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) — the obligatory charity given before Eid al-Fitr prayers. The recommended amount is the cost of one meal for one person, and it must be distributed before the Eid prayer to ensure eligible families can celebrate the holiday with dignity.
